ConferenceBike inventor Eric Staller was inspired by SOMA (Southeast Orientation and Mobility Association) chairman Lynn Gautreaux to send a CoBi-7 to the 2016 conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Says Staller: “I was so touched by the work that these people are doing for the deaf/blind community that I offered to donate a CoBi to the organization that presented me with the most compelling story. There were 12 impassioned submissions from all over the country and it was so hard to choose just one. After much deliberation, I chose the Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind.”
The Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind provides on-site comprehensive rehabilitation programs for people who are visually impaired or blind. The organization operates on two different locations in the state of Florida: Winter Haven and Tampa.
Their training programs are specifically designed to guide and support individuals who are struggling with vision impairments to obtain the necessary skills that will help them get through their day-to-day living with ease and also help them keep their jobs.
